The EU AI Act

The European Commission released the proposed Regulation on Artificial Intelligence (AI Act) on 21 April 2021. The Act is the first-ever legal framework that sets out harmonised rules for the development, placing on the market, and use of artificial intelligence in the European Union.

This page sets out an interactive version of the European Commission's proposal for a Regulation laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Act) and amending certain Union legislative acts as it goes through the ordinary legislative procedure. The website is currently being updated according to the version endorsed by the Coreper I (Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States to the European Union) on 2 February 2024.
