Section 2: National Competent Authorities

What this part of the EU AI Act covers

Section 2 concerns the national level. Article 70 requires each Member State to designate at least one notifying authority and at least one market surveillance authority, and to give them adequate technical, financial and human resources to carry out the Regulation's tasks.

It binds the Member States. For an operator it answers a practical question: which authority supervises you, receives your serious incident reports, and can request your technical documentation, and the resourcing requirement in Article 70 is the measure of whether it can.
