Chapter VIII: EU Database for High-Risk AI Systems

Chapter VIII establishes the EU database for high-risk AI systems. Article 71 requires the Commission to maintain a public registry in which providers and certain deployers of Annex III systems register before placing a system on the market or putting it into service.

It binds providers of Annex III high-risk systems, those relying on the Article 6(3) derogation, and certain public-authority deployers, each of whom must register before placing a system on the market or putting it into service. Because the database is public, registration is also the point at which a compliance position becomes visible.
