What this part of the EU AI Act covers

The articles are where the EU AI Act's binding obligations live. They run from Article 1, which states the subject matter, to Article 113, which fixes when each part of the Act begins to apply. Between them sit the prohibitions in Article 5, the high-risk regime in Chapter III, the transparency duties in Article 50, the general-purpose AI model rules in Chapter V and the penalties in Articles 99 to 101. Recitals explain the reasoning behind these rules; annexes carry the technical lists they depend on. Only the articles impose duties.
