Section 4: Codes of Practice
Chapter V · Article 56
What this part of the EU AI Act covers
Section 4 provides for codes of practice. Article 56 tasks the AI Office with facilitating their drawing up, and adherence to an approved code is a means by which a provider of a general-purpose AI model can demonstrate compliance with its Chapter V obligations.
It binds nobody directly, but adherence to an approved code is the primary means by which a general-purpose AI model provider can demonstrate compliance with Chapter V, which makes a voluntary instrument the practical route for most model providers.
